How To Fix Cracked Jersey Numbers
How to stop shirt from cracking
Mods, if this is against the subreddit's rules, please remove.
I have two CR7 shirts (last year's which I absolutely love and this year's) and for the life of me I can't stop them from cracking and peeling, particularly the number on the back. Granted, I wear them ALL the time and are my favorite drinking shirts so naturally they have to be washed a lot.
What do you guys do to keep them from peeling and cracking? Hang dry, wash on cold, etc.?

Try washing them with the inside out, with cold water, & do not use a dryer. Hang them instead.

Inside out? I never thought of that. Thanks!

This is the best advice.
I learned this the hard way years ago, my white and gold Alonso jersey's BWIN logo got cracked after a regular wash and dry cycle.

I try my best not wash my Madrid jerseys at all. When I wear them, almost always I'll have an undershirt, and if I know I'm going to be drinking/eating I'll bring along a light sweater(saved me from pasta disasters twice).
When I do wash them, hand wash in cold water(w regular laundry soap) and hang dry.

Thanks so much for your advice. I never thought of the undershirt idea...currently one of my jerseys is sitting 10 feet away from me and I can smell it from here. Awful.

I only take mine to the dry cleaner as I'm too scared to wash it and possibly ruin it. So far so good!

Wow. That is definitely not what I was expecting. Where do you live? If you're in the USA, do they look at you funny for bringing in a soccer jersey?

If the numbers are falling off, you can put a shirt barrier and then iron them back on (no steam). My Benzema jersey 9 was getting loose around the sides and I ironed it back on pretty tight.

I have the same problem with my 2011-2012 kit. The only difference is that for me, the bwin is peeling.

Pretty sure you should not wash the in machine, but as said in this thread, for hand and hang them up to dry.

I am a bit disappointed nobody said duct tape yet.

Hand washing works well. Since they are normally made of quick dry materials there really shouldn't be a need to wash them often. Use undershirts to keep them as dry as possible.
